WSL Predictions: Gameweek 10

The final week of the 2024 Women’s Super League (WSL) is here and clubs will be keen to end the year on a high note.

Chelsea currently leading the top of the table, but the likes of Manchester City, Arsenal and Manchester United they are not too far away. At the other end, Leicester City and Crystal Palace are at the bottom of the same price, but there are at least five other clubs that are in danger of being dragged into battle with one or two bad results.

Other big games are set to take place this week, including Tottenham Hotspur’s trip to high-flying Brighton. Aston Villa host West Ham at Villa Park, while Liverpool also face Arsenal.

So, for the last time this year, 90 min they have predicted the results of each WSL game this weekend…

It’s a tough end of the year for Amandine Miquel’s Leicester City side as they host league leaders Chelsea at the King Power Stadium. The London club have won all nine games so far, so it’s hard to predict anything other than a Chelsea win this weekend.

The Foxes are currently bottom of the table with just five points to their name and have won just one WSL game this season. Sonia Bompastor’s side should win well.

Prediction: Leicester City 0-5 Chelsea

This game is tough to call but, that being said, Brighton are in good form at the moment. Despite being beaten by Chelsea last time out in the league, they have brought all kinds of challenges and it looks like they could make a stunning comeback at the same time.

On the other hand, Tottenham are sixth and have won only three games out of nine. They had a narrow win against Everton last time out, so we will be confident on Saturday evening.

With Brighton making a habit of beating teams outside the top four this season, they should have enough to get over the line to finish the year strong.

Prediction: Brighton 3-2 Tottenham

Everton have looked difficult at times as Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester United struggle to beat them. However, they have scored far fewer goals and only Leicester City have found the net less than Brian Sorensen’s side in their opening nine games.

While Manchester City have Champions League games to think about, including next week’s away to Barcelona, It may not be as big a win as some might have hoped, but City will take all three points at Walton Hall Park.

Prediction: Everton 0-2 Manchester City

This is a win that both teams need to win as they aim to get out of the league. They are just one point off the bottom as things stand.

Aston Villa were well beaten by Arsenal last time out, while West Ham came from behind to score a big win against Crystal Palace. Rehanne Skinner’s side will be full of confidence heading into Sunday’s meeting at Villa Park, with the hosts having recorded just one win in the league this season.

It will be an attractive game even for these reasons, but Villa may have enough to achieve with the help of their home support.

Prediction: Aston Villa 2-1 West Ham

After last weekend’s painful defeat against West Ham, it could be too much for Crystal Palace to bounce back against Manchester United. Marc Skinner’s side are not in good form this season, but they are finally getting the results they need.

Palace have struggled against the top teams this season with big losses against Chelsea and City. Unfortunately, United at home will be no match and will have to retire and head into the new year.

Prediction: Crystal Palace 1-5 Manchester United

After this excellent 2023/24 campaign, it has been a disappointing start to the new season for Liverpool. Despite being seventh in the table, the Reds have just four points and are in danger of being dragged into an unnecessary battle if they can’t start getting results.

Given the way United’s defeat last week went on, Arsenal are in similar danger and have improved since Renee Slegers took over as interim manager in October. It’s hard to see Liverpool getting anything out of this game as they look like a shadow of the team that caused all the trouble in the top flight last term.

Prediction: Liverpool 0-3 Arsenal
