Wolves approach Pereira’s tenure

Wolves are expected to confirm the appointment of Vitor Pereira as their head coach tomorrow.

The Portuguese replaces Gary O’Neil, who was sacked after Saturday’s defeat at home to Ipswich left Wolves second from bottom of the Premier League after just two wins this season.

Wolves and Pereira’s current club, Al Shabab, have reportedly agreed a compensation deal that will see the 56-year-old take charge at Molineux for Sunday’s trip to Leicester City.

Pereira has enjoyed a traveling leadership role, speaking in his home country as well as in Saudi Arabia, Greece, Turkey, Germany, China and Brazil.

The highlight of his managerial career was two years in charge of Porto, leading them to back-to-back Primeira Liga titles.

He has also won league titles with Olympiacos and Shanghai SIPG.

Pereira will have a tough job on his hands in trying to push Wolves away from danger.

The club will also be without star Matheus Cunha for a while after he was charged with misconduct by the Football Association this morning.

The Brazilian, Wolves’ top scorer with eight Premier League goals this season, was involved in a row after the game against Ipswich, arguing with a member of the opposition defence.
