I understand recycling the past for clues, but what’s the point if it reminds you of something you don’t have?(Stop looking through those old magazine archives, Flo.) We know we are no longer getting the Google Pixel Tablet 2although common positive reviews that the first generation received after its messy launch in 2023. So it seems cruel to repeatedly beat a dead horse on something that will never be resurrected, at least not anytime soon.
Why are we talking about a Pixel Tablet stylus that never existed and reportedly never will? Android authority posted what it says is a glimpse of what would be the magic wand to unlock the full potential of the Pixel Tablet 2. The “pen for the Google Pixel tablet” had the codename “bushukan,” which it shares with the citrus fruit. known as Buddha’s hand. The pen model is called/marked as the “GM0KF” model. If you search for that and “pixel pen” you’ll get everything the blogosphere has written about this unreleased pen.
The stylus was supposed to come in two colors, white and gray, probably to match the colors of the Pixel Tablet 2. The pen had a button on the top that you could press to launch a note-taking app the diagram below shows us that this is pretty standard stylus behavior on an accessory that will never see the light of day again. It had Find My Device integration in case you needed to tuck it into the recesses of your couch cushions or wherever you lost your pen for a bulky refill.
Google was reportedly going to release a second-generation Pixel Tablet this year, but canceled it a few weeks ago. We’ve had renders floating around Android blogs all year and even the one above keyboard folio something the first-generation Pixel Tablet lacked, as it was billed as a portable smart home device rather than a productivity machine like OnePlus Pad:which debuted around the same time.
It’s unlikely we’ll see this stylus on its own, which is a shame because the last time Google did something with a pen was promising Pixelbook:? I still have one right here, physically, because when I want to take out its flip-up design, I still have the pen that came with the Chromebook. It had a button where sits on your thumb so you can easily squeeze it in for extra functionality. The pen wasn’t bad with the Chromebook. I used it to take notes at several 2-on-1 conferences But it looks like Google is planning to move away from the productivity gadget trajectory in favor of the connected home. The Pixel Tablet 2 is likely to be shelved to focus on something else: a large screen that fits in the personal domain.
