Wolves’ 2-1 defeat at Ipswich Town on Saturday could spell trouble for West Ham as Gary O’Neil faces the sack on his return to Molineux.
A last-minute goal from Jack Taylor secured all three points for The Tractor Boys, who have left Wolves in 19th place in the Premier League having won just two of their 16 games.
This can be O’Neil’s end at Molineux as the English coach was already under pressure before taking over Ipswich.
Losing the man who has been relegated is not looking the former Bournemouth boss and could see the Premier League side make a move for Graham Potter next week.
According to Daily Mail, Wolves are quickly announcing O’Neil’s successors and are believed to have had limited discussions with Potter over the past month. The former Chelsea boss is believed to be unaware of the role, but those within the club can trust him.
Hiring Potter could have a huge impact on West Ham as vice-chairman Karren Brady wants to have an English coach at the London club to replace current boss Julen Lopetegui.

Like O’Neil, Lopetegui is under pressure at West Ham as the Hammers currently sit 14th in the Premier League having won five of their 15 games. The Spanish coach’s reign has been disappointing as the London club spent £120m on new players in the summer to help the Irons return to Europe.
That didn’t work for the former Wolves coach and according to the transfer expert Ben JacobsBrady is pushing Potter for the West Ham manager’s job behind closed doors.
The journalist says there is a real possibility that West Ham will sack Lopetegui in the next two weeks, depending on the results, and Potter remains at the top of the shortlist along with other names such as Matthias Jaissle, Massimiliano Allegri, Edin Terzic and Conceicao.

The former Chelsea manager’s experience in the Premier League will give him the edge over other players, as well as his beautiful style of play.
The The West Ham job should be of great interest to Potter than Wolves are given the difference in resources, but as time passes, it becomes easier for the English coach to overcome the problem at Molineux.
