Captain Kyle Walker has assured Manchester City supporters that the reigning champions are committed to their Premier League title hunt.
The England defender, who has played a key role in City’s reign in recent years, spoke of the team’s resilience, having won the league titles in four consecutive seasons and six of the last seven.
Sunday’s 2-0 defeat to league leaders Liverpool marked a difficult time for Manchester City.
The loss was their sixth in their last seven games, leaving the club in fifth place, 11 points behind Liverpool.
Walker addressed fans directly via social media, beginning with a “message to our fans,” as he highlighted the team’s history of struggling:
“We have won titles in the last games of this season, and we have made history and history with 100 points, until the last kick.
“We have shown time and time again that we can overcome the problem, and we will do it again.” I promise you, we will fight until the end. “
“We know that what we have done recently has not reached our expectations, and we know that it has been difficult.
But we have been through these challenges before, together, and we will get through this again.
“It is important that we all stand together as one club, like Manchester City, at this difficult time. Your support, whether in good or bad times, means everything to us.”
The pressure is on as City prepare to host Nottingham Forest on Wednesday. Defeat in this game could see Forest relegated to the Premier League.
With the season almost over, Walker’s message is clear: Manchester City are not ready to back down.
