Mohamed Salah’s goal and assist in Liverpool’s 2-0 win over Manchester City could have been part of his last game at Anfield, the striker said.
Salah, who now has 13 goals and 11 assists in 20 games this season, is out of contract at the end of the campaign and said last week he was “disappointed” not to be offered a new deal, adding that and “probably more than” for staying at Anfield.
“To be honest, it was in my head,” Salah told Sky Sports when asked about his future following the home win that moved Liverpool nine points clear at the top of the table.
“So far, it’s the last City game (at home) that I play in Liverpool, so I’m just going to enjoy it. The attitude was amazing so I’m just happy now. Hopefully we’ll win the league and we’ll see what happens.”

Liverpool vs Man City: Salah stars
Salah set up Cody Gakpo for the opener from close range after 12 minutes and converted a penalty in the 12th minute to help condemn reigning champions City to a fourth league defeat in a row.
“I’m a good player,” the Egypt captain replied when asked about his inspired pass through the net to the Netherlands player.
“I told Cody before the game, ‘Any time I have the ball, if there’s an opportunity to play it, I will, of course.’

Three-time Premier League Golden Boot winner Salah signed a new contract in July 2022 which makes him the highest-paid player in Liverpool’s history.
A lawyer and adviser to the 32-year-old, Ramy Abbas Issa, told a study at Harvard Business School in 2023 that Salah earns at least $1 million a week in total earnings, boosted by things like his lucrative endorsements.
“Rebuilding at Liverpool would be one of the biggest things in my career,” Salah said in the interview The Guardian.
“But we have to do it the right way. I’ve learned throughout my career that if you want to be successful, it’s important that you don’t just focus on the physical but also on the mental level.”

Van Dijk: City win “feels good”
Defender Virgil van Dijk, who is also out of contract at the end of the season, hit the woodwork with a header before Liverpool took the lead.
“City have a very good team,” said the manager. “They are four champions in a row and they have the ability to punish any team. We were very strong defensively. Offensively, we created some good chances and could have scored more.
“It has been a successful day. We look at the next; that’s the only thing we can do. There is no need, at this point in time, to lead ourselves.
“Everyone wants to be where they are, at the moment, 11 points ahead of our opponents today. There are a lot of twists and turns.
“We have some injuries, unfortunately, and we have to deal with them. When you win like this, you are happy.”
