Apple executives always describe new hardware and software as the “best” or “greatest” ever, but the delivery usually doesn’t live up to the hype (cf. iPads from earlier this year) However, iOS 18 and iPadOS 18 may deserve some of those adjectives. Apple intelligence steals the spotlight.

Is your iPhone or iPad compatible?
Good news. Every iPhone that could fit iOS 17: may work with iOS 18. Apple has not removed any iPhones from the list of supported devices this year. If you have an iPhone XR and iPhone XS 2018 or later second – and: the third-generation iPhone SE), you can download and run iOS 18. If you’re not sure what model iPhone you have, go to the Settings app, tap General >: Near and look Model Name:. After the backup, you are ready to install iOS 18. As this is a big update, you need to connect your devices to the charger and make sure they are connected to Wi-Fi before starting the update Settings > General > Software Update. You will see an option to download the update. Tap Download and install and when the download is complete, tap Install now! to start the update You will know the update is complete when your device restarts.
New updates for iOS/iPadOS version 18
All of the best features of iOS and iPadOS 18 are highlighted below, but it’s important to note that Apple will continue to release additional updates over the next year, including new features that aren’t available at launch, bug fixes, and security patches. To update your iPhone to the latest version, go to Settings >: General >: Software update and follow the instructions above.

These text-based improvements go beyond typing. It also activates priority notifications that appear at the top of your notification list, so you get a more digestible summary at a glance. Similarly, the Mail app will see Priority messages, which means that important emails will be placed at the top of your inbox. You can also receive summaries of long emails, and the Smart Reply feature allows you to quickly reply to emails. available in Gmail.
In the Notes, Voice Memos, and Phone app, you can tap the record button (yes, even during a call) to get a recording with a transcript, and Apple Intelligence can generate a summary of that transcript.Apple says that in states where for recordings two-way consent is required, the person on the other end of the line will be notified that the call is being recorded.
Finally, there is one new Focus a mode called Reduce Interruptions that can understand your personal context, so while it hides input that might distract you, it knows enough of what you’ve been doing to let your babysitter text you.

Apple’s image features mainly revolve around creating new images using artificial intelligence. Much of this happens in Image Playground, an experience that feeds into other apps (although it also exists as a standalone app). create from people in the description, suggested ideas, and even your Photos library.
Genmoji may be the most anticipated feature that Apple has announced. It allows you to create emojis directly from the keyboard. The last part of Apple Intelligence is probably the one that can be used most often, and it involves Siri. when activated, the edges of the screen will glow, and you can now type your requests to Siri instead of using your voice (something you’ve been able to do with Google Assistant for several years).
