Many social media users condemned the killing of United Healthcare CEO Brian Thompson this week, and expressed their dismay at the health care system in the US.
In particular, many of them responded with laughing emojis to United Healthcare Group’s Facebook post, saying the company was “saddened and shocked” by Thompson’s sudden death.
“Brian was a very respected colleague and friend to all who worked with him. We are working closely with the New York Police Department and ask for your patience and understanding during this difficult time. Another user wrote: “I don’t like to celebrate the death of anyone, even my enemies, but that doesn’t mean I can’t celebrate justice. And for those who want to argue about justice, the law doesn’t want to define justice. This is a man who led his company to kill people for profit. .
“If you shoot one person in the street and kill. If you kill thousands of people in hospitals by taking away their ability to get help you are a businessman,” the user wrote on X.

Another user said on X: “Today, we mourn the death of United Healthcare CEO Brian Thompson, who was killed by a gunman…. wait, sorry – today we mourn the 68,000 Americans who die needlessly every year because of the insurance company’s actions like Brian Thompson can be a millionaire.”
Other users expressed their sympathy for Thompson and his family.
“The worst part of the video showing the death of the CEO of United Healthcare is now that his children will have their father’s death on the internet. Sometimes the internet is so painful,” a user wrote on X.
Another said: “What’s wrong with America? The CEO of United Healthcare has been killed. And some stupid souls write: ‘Ideas are to take away from the family. Unfortunately my complaints are off the internet”.
