“It’s not a lot of motivation that you have to do, just because you don’t want to put extra pressure on anybody,” Evans said exclusively us. “I just tell her, ‘Go do your thing, baby’… As long as she’s there, she’s on the court, give her a kiss and we can go on our way.”
He continued at the time, “You get a different kind of focus whenever you only have one person to focus on. And I’m not saying there’s anything wrong with being single, but for me, knowing myself, I’ve played a lot better since (meeting Simon) , I was just focused and locked in, and you come home, talk about my day and play with the dogs, you know what I mean, that’s kind of our thing.”
After Biles won several medals in Paris, she set off a Gold across America tour with the other American gymnasts. After the shows ended this fall, she spent most of her downtime cheering on Evans in his matches.
