Shakur Stevenson’s next fight confirmed by the promoter

The proposed card in Riyadh on February 22 continues to be the subject of internet speculation but one fight is a done deal according to the promoter.

It is no secret that Turki Alalshikh had planned on being the Matchroom of the WBC lightweight champion Shakur Stevenson, 22-0 (10 KOs), on the first Riyadh Season card 2025. The opponent of the first choice, William Zepeda, 32-0 (27 KOs), left due to injury leaving Stevenson without a fight.

That doesn’t seem to be the case, however, thanks to Floyd Schofield, 18-0 (12 KOs). 22-year-old promoter Oscar De La Hoya wrote on the X channel that his fighter has accepted the fight.

In his letters De La Hoya also described Schofield as “the worst fighter of our time”. Stevenson, not one or two words on X, replied, “Finally you’re speaking properly. He first and then I knocked out Zepeda. Sorry in advance my man you are a legend to me in the boxing ring!!”

The February 22 card has yet to be confirmed by Aalshikh, but rumor has it that Daniel Dubois will defend his IBF heavyweight title against Joseph Parker. A rematch between undisputed lightweight champion Artur Beterbiev and Dmitry Bivol could also be on the cards. And another interesting heavyweight fight – between Zhilei Zhang and Agit Kabayel – is also added.

Jaron Ennis vs Vergil Ortiz was also linked to the show but a much higher matchup they are timeless. Ortiz, however, could still have what could be a dominant feature on this year’s undercard.
