According to a recent survey of American consumers on fast food Prices, burger chains emerged at the top to be very overpriced menu. The survey comes as Americans say they’re feeling more deflation and inflation than ever before.
A survey by Preply said Shake Shack was ranked as the most expensive chain restaurant, followed by Five Guys and Sugar Factory.
In March, Shake Shack raised its prices by 3%.

To find out, researchers analyzed the language of 57,245 reviews of more than 10,000 restaurants in 50 cities across the country.
To find out how expensive it is, the authors looked for keywords — like “pricey” or “rip-off” — in restaurant reviews in each city and analyzed how often they were used. and assistants.
The cities with the most expensive restaurants were Oakland and San Jose, California, and Virginia Beach, Virginia., according to the survey.
“With three out of five of the top five cities located in California, this clearly shows how high the cost of dining in California is in line with the state’s high cost of living,” the study said. “In addition to premium prices, Californians are known to prioritize high-quality ingredients, which cost more.”

“Unfortunately, some restaurants miss the mark. They charge very high prices that don’t match what would be considered appropriate for the quality of the food and the amount of food served.”
New York City topped the list of cities with the cheapest restaurants.
The survey comes as many restaurants and fast food outlets have high prices. In May, McDonald’s USA President Joe Erlinger defended the increase, denying reports that the increase was excessive.

“Recently, we’ve seen viral social media and unsubstantiated reports that McDonald’s has raised prices significantly above inflation,” he said. “The average price of a Big Mac in the US was $4.39 in 2019. Despite the global pandemic and significant increases in retail prices, wages and other inflationary pressures in subsequent years, the average price is now $5.29. 21% (not 100%).”
