Duchess of York Sarah Ferguson Praises her previous marriage to her ex-husband Prince Andrew.
in the new Interview for “Sunday Times”. Published on Saturday, December 14, the Duchess of York, 65, opened up about her relationship with Prince Andrew.
“I was completely in love with Andrew,” she told the outlet of the early years of her relationship with Andrew, 64. “I would do it again, 100 percent. He’s the best, a great man with a big, kind heart. Our wedding was the best day My life. But I gave up my anonymity that day. I won’t let him down.
She added, “He supports me as much as I support him. He supported me through thick and thin, not just in marriage or divorce. We agree on the three Cs – communication, compromise, compassion.”
Fergie’s interview was conducted before news broke that Andrew was linked to an accused businessman to be a Chinese spy. In a statement to the BBC on Saturday, the Duke of York said he had “ceased all contact” with the man, and that he had met the man “through official channels” and “nothing of a sensitive nature (was) ever discussed.”
As for Ferguson, she reflected further on the early days of her and Andrew’s relationship while speaking to The Sunday Times.
“I first met Andrew when I was 12,” she told the network. “My first thought was that I was going to marry him. We came back into each other’s lives when Diana He invited me to Ascot in 1985 and six months later we got engaged. So you were not allowed to hang out or live with each other. Diana couldn’t, I couldn’t.”
Ferguson said the next generation of royals “learned” from them, noting, “Sophie (Duchess of Edinburgh) and Catherine (Princess of Wales) could. They both knew their sons.”
Ferguson’s sister Jane Ludke also spoke to The Sunday Times about the former couple’s relationship.
“Sarah and Andrew are the best divorced couple I know,” Ludke said. “They did it for their kids; it’s amazing. I came to stay at the Royal Lodge in May and went riding with Andrew at Windsor Castle. It was lovely to get on a horse and ride through the grounds again.”
Prince Andrew has had a past full of controversy and accusations. In October 2019, Andrew was accused by Virginia Roberts Joffer of sexual assault. It came amid news of his friendship with the late Jeffrey Epstein.
In an interview with BBC Newsnight in November 2019, Andrew denied the allegations, saying he “has no recollection of ever meeting this lady, nothing.” Said Andrew, “It just never happened.”
Joffre said that between 1999 and 2002, she was forced to have sex with him three times.
