Postecoglou eager to break the cycle of inequality

Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou is more determined than ever to make it to North London.

Spurs recorded their sixth straight defeat at Bournemouth on Thursday night, dropping them to the bottom half.

And Postecoglou was given direct feedback from the fans as he went to thank them after the game.

The club’s status is still low, but the Australian boss says the fans deserve to be disappointed and it only motivates him to do better.

Speaking at his recent press conference, he said: “For me the disappointment last night, it was the repetition that we go into the game, we start well but I let the opposition catch by conceding a careless goal. – as we did last night – or not taking our chances.

“We have to stop this, regardless of where we are at the moment.

“We know we’re short on the floor in terms of the number of players. We know there’s not a lot of opportunity to go around and rest players. We paid the price with Benny (Davies) last night.

“I don’t need help. I don’t mind the support. I just want to achieve what I want to do. “💪

“Those are known things. what is also known is that we shot ourselves repeatedly in games like last night and we have to change.

“We have done well against the teams at the top of the table, not only winning but playing very well.

“Whether it’s City or United or Villa. But it doesn’t solve what happened last night. That still needs to be answered. We’ll put it to one side, it’s a big game on Sunday.”

Spurs host Chelsea on Sunday in a game that could see them move up to 13th in the table.

The Blues have been in good form under Enzo Maresca but Postecoglou still believes his players can improve.

He added: “Chelsea are going well, they are in a good place at the moment with a healthy team and they are in good shape.

“We always have tough games but we are at home and we have to make sure we do as well as we do in other games.

“I am here, I am fighting to make sure that the team wins. Nothing changes. Where there is doubt, whether it’s internal or external, it only increases my determination to make sure we get it right.
