Authorities in Pennsylvania on Monday arrested a man police say is connected to last week’s shooting death of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson in New York City.
Police arrested 26-year-old Luigi Mangione in Altoona five days after Thompson was shot in Midtown Manhattan in the early hours of Wednesday, Dec. 4, launching a search for the shooter, whose identity remains unknown.Mangione was arrested after he visited a McDonald’s location in Altoona where other diners noticed his resemblance to the alleged shooter to images released by the New York Police Department and contacted authorities. Before Mangione’s arrest, NYPD investigators mapped the alleged shooter’s movements in New York City since late November, including his stay at a Manhattan dormitory where the suspect was photographed without a face mask.
