Mumbai Indians (MI) announced the appointment of an Englishman Carl Hopkinson as their new teacher ahead of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season. The move comes as part of a wider coaching overhaul after a disappointing campaign in IPL 2024, where the franchise finished at the bottom of the table.
New Coaching Staff at a Glance
Hopkinson, who has previously worked with various clubs, including the England women’s team and several domestic franchises, brings a wealth of experience to the role. His expertise in improving strategy and operational processes is expected to improve Mumbai’s performance in the field.
Nicknamed “Hoppo,” he served as the head coach of the Three Lions at the ICC Under-19 World Cup 2022, guiding the team to the final, their last appearance since 1998.
This personnel change also marked the departure of former MI coach, James Pammentwho left the franchise after seven impressive years, where he played a key role in securing two titles in 2019 and 2020.
