Luke Littler’s incredible growth has been highlighted by the darts star becoming the third person on Google in the UK in 2024.
Littler came from nowhere to reach the final of the World Darts Championship earlier this year at the age of 16, only to lose to Luke Humphries. Since then, he has won the Premier League, the Grand Slam of Darts and the World Series Finals.
The interest was sparked by events at Alexander Palace and later saw him ranked behind Kate Middleton and Donald Trump in UK Google searches.
Prime Minister Keir Starker was fourth and King Charles seventh.
On the list of the most searched athletes in the UK, Littler was at the top, ahead of Lamine Yamal, Simone Biles, Jude Bellingham and Adam Peaty.
Littler said: “To be recognized in the two-year search list is a huge privilege.
“It has been an amazing year for me personally, and for the game of darts. I cannot believe that I am higher than the Prime Minister and the King who is in the ‘people’ category.
“In the year that I have achieved the most in the sport, it is a proud moment to become the best athlete in 2024.”
Littler’s second crack at the World Championships comes before Christmas with the competition starting on Sunday. His second bout with Fallon Sherrock or Ryan Meikle is scheduled for Sunday, December 21.
Littler is seeded fourth which means he could face world number one Humphries in the semi-finals.
