Kylian Mbappe could miss the Intercontinental Cup final with a thigh injury he picked up in Real Madrid’s win over Atalanta on Tuesday.
The French striker opened the scoring in Bergamo with a stunning finish, but was forced off 10 minutes before the half.
Coach Carlo Ancelotti indicated after the match that Mbappe’s withdrawal was a precautionary measure.
He said: “It seems that it is not a big issue.” He has more, less discomfort.
“We’ll have to see in the next few days. It doesn’t seem like a big deal, but he had to stop, because he couldn’t run and it was bothering him a little bit. So we used to change him.”
Some tests in the capital of Spain have shown that the same injury every day AS will take 10 days to heal.
A statement from the club reads: “Following the tests carried out today by Kylian Mbappé by the Real Madrid medical department, the player has been diagnosed with a thigh injury in his left leg. His progress will be monitored.”

This 10-day period means that Mbappe will miss this week’s game against Rayo Vallecano and is a serious doubt for the final of the Intercontinental Cup against the Mexican team Pachuca or Al Ahly of Egypt on December 18.
It is another return for Mbappe, who struggled for form and fitness after joining Madrid from Paris Saint-Germain in the summer.
