“In this first year, obviously, we have to figure life out a little. Chuck has a business in Kansas. I have children and grandchildren and Maryland. I’m not leaving Maryland, but he has duties in Kansas,” said Joan us. “We know we’re going to spend time in Maryland and Kansas, but then we have this most fun plan because we’ve both always dreamed — and we’re finally at this weird stage in life of making that dream come true — that we live in a big city, and specifically, we’ve always wanted to live in New York. So Chok surprised me and said, ‘I want us to go find a place.'”
As the couple plans to spend time in the Big Apple, Joanne said us that she “never in a million years” thought she would feel “love like this again”.
“Living life in your golden years is special. You are no longer responsible for raising a family or a business. You can really enjoy life. Travel is important to us. One day we will buy a house together,” she shared in an us Cover story. “After John passed away, I felt like my future was this black hole. And now it just seems so bright. The possibilities are endless for us. Which is a strange thing to say at this age, but I do feel that way.”
