Jay ZThe lawyer of Alex Spiro He sets the record straight on his client’s relationship with Sean “Diddy” Combs.
“Mr. Carter has nothing to do with Mr. Combs’ case or Mr. Combs. They have known each other professionally for several years,” Spiro said Us Weekly and other reporters during a press roundtable on Monday, December 16, at the Rock Nation offices in New York. “Just like in all professions, people know each other. At the music awards, they support each other. If you go to the NBA All-Star Game, they support each other. That’s just how professions work. There’s no closer bond between any of them. It’s also A matter of fiction”.
Didi was arrested in September for sex trafficking, extortion and other alleged crimes. He denied the allegations and admitted his innocence to the charges.
Since Didi’s arrest in New York City, many alleged victims have filed lawsuits against him. as it is Awaiting a criminal trial In May 2025, Diddy pleaded not guilty and denied all civil charges against him.
“(Jay-Z) doesn’t know anything about the charges or allegations against (Diddy),” Spiro told reporters on Dec. 16. “He has nothing to do with this case and has nothing more to say.”
Earlier this month, Jay-Z (real name Sean Carter) and Diddy, both 55, were named as defendants in a civil lawsuit accusing them of sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl. The woman, who identified herself as Jane Doe, claimed the assault took place at the 2000 MTV Video Music Awards party.
When the lawsuit was originally filed in October in the Southern District of New York, only Didi was listed as a defendant. It was resubmitted by a Texas attorney Tony Busby on December 8 to include Jay-Z.
In addition to denying the allegations, Jay-Z has since asked the court to do so dismiss Jane Doe’s civil suit “In the absence of subject matter authority due to the plaintiff’s lack of status.”
During his roundtable discussion, Spiro presented a slide presentation detailing alleged holes in the accuser’s story.
“It’s clear to everyone that Mr. Carter didn’t do it,” Spiro said. “Obviously Jay-Z didn’t rape a child. But what I want to do today is just walk you through some of it so you can see the truth and you can see for yourself what happened.”
Spiro also responded to Buzbee’s claims to NBC News that he would “continue to look into” the alleged victim’s claims.
“You can see here now that it’s starting to unravel and the truth is coming out,” Spiro argued, adding that the lawsuit “attacks a man of Mr. Carter’s integrity.”
In a statement on Friday, December 13, L NBC NewsBuzby confirmed that the Jane Doe case had been transferred to his office by someone else. “Our client remains adamant that what she stated is true, to the best of her recollection,” he said. “We will continue to look into her claims and gather corroborating data to the extent that it exists. Because we interrogated her so intensively, she even agreed to take a polygraph. I’ve never had a client offer that before.”
After Spiro’s roundtable, Boseby refuted what he called the “baseless allegations” detailed in the presentation.
“This client was registered and referred to our office by another law firm. This law firm drafted the initial complaint,” he said us in a statement. “However, four people in our office also interviewed the client and checked details after receiving a referral. A background check was performed on the client. We also invited a veteran investigator to check some details she revealed to us. These results matched what the client told us.”
Boseby continued: “We sent a letter to Mr. Carter’s lawyer and offered to sit down to discuss the claims in confidence. Instead of accepting this offer, Mr. Spiro chose to file a public lawsuit accusing me personally of extortion by threats. He made this claim knowing that we did not ask for money at all and get out of it in the public sphere. This case is completely frivolous. Moreover: At least three attorneys from our firm interviewed the client before filing the amended complaint on behalf of Mr. Carter He also signed two separate affidavits. Our client is determined to be a bully.
