India they will be looking to get back to winning ways when they face Australia in the third Test in the ongoing five-match series. The match is expected to be played on Saturday (December 14) at the Gabba.
The visitors made the best start to the series by winning the first Test in Perth by 295 runs. However, they failed to maintain form in the second Test when Australia defeated them by 10 wickets to tie.
Both teams are looking to win the upcoming Tests to top the series, we are looking for India Playing 11 in the third Test.
While KL Rahul and Yashasvi Jaiswal did not have the best outings with the bat in the second Test, the visitors could not change the opening combination in the India Playing 11.
There have been murmurs of dropping Rahul and allowing Rohit Sharma to open the innings again, but that seems unlikely, especially after the skipper’s poor performance in the second Test.
When Jaiswal was out for a duck in the first innings, Rahul scored 37 runs. In the second innings, Jaiswal scored 24 while Rahul scored 7.
Shubman Gill missed the first Test due to injury and failed to hit the ground running on his return to the Test side. The youngster got starts in both the innings but was unable to capitalize. He scored 31 and 28 runs in the match.
Virat Kohli failed to capitalize on the century he scored in the first Test. The former skipper failed to score in both the innings, registering 7 and 11 runs.
Captain Rohit Sharma also failed to lead his team forward. The light was strong on him but he couldn’t live up to his expectations. Rohit scored 3 runs in the first innings before scoring 6 in the second over.
Rishabh Pant was also not happy with the bat. Arguably the best Test wicketkeeper-batsman in the world, Pant was out for 21 in the first innings and 28 in the second innings.
Nitish Reddy was one of the few to perform well in another disappointing game for the visitors.
The young all-rounder also impressed with his display under pressure. In the first innings, he scored 42 runs before scoring 42 again in the second innings. His cameo helped India avoid an innings defeat. He also picked up a wicket.
The visitors have to make one change in the bowling line-up of the India Playing 11. Ravichandran Ashwin may make way for Washington Sundar in the third IND vs AUS Test. Sundar played in the first Test before being dropped in the second.
Ashwin bowled 18 overs in the Adelaide Test and took one wicket. Since Brisbane was very unlikely to help the spinners, the visitors may remember Sundar who is also known as a good leg batsman.
The line-up should be similar with Jasprit Bumrah leading the attack along with Harshit Rana and Mohammed Siraj.
Meanwhile, reports suggest that Bumrah might miss the Test due to injury. If that happens, he might be replaced by Akash Deep in India’s Playing 11 for the IND vs AUS third test.
