Hamzah Sheeraz has told IBF and WBO middleweight champion Janibek Alimkhanuly that he will fight him in unison after dethroning WBC champion Carlos Adames on February 22nd.
Sheeraz (21-0, 17 KOs) faces Adames (24-1, 18 KOs) on the Turki Alalshikh main card on February 22nd in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. If Sheeraz wins this fight, there will be a lot of interest in the fight between him and Janibek (16-0, 11 KOs), who is considered the King of the 160-lb division by many fans.
It’s hard to imagine Hamzah agreeing to fight Janibek if he holds the WBC belt because he will be given a better payday against Chris Eubank Jr. I might be underdog against Janibek, who might take advantage of his shaky chin.
Janibek was not ignored by the top fighters in the division, who showed no interest in meeting him, despite having two titles. His popularity is not enough to attract the top names in most barren circles to fight him. He is dangerous and has a technical ability that is on a different level than most fighters.
Alimkhanuly has looked dangerous recently, destroying Andrei Mikhailovich, Vincenzo Gualtieri, and Steven Butler. I don’t know that Hamzah beats all these guys. He can knock them down, but if any one of them falls on his fragile chin, it can be over. We saw how Austin ‘Ammo’ Williams had Hamzah in trouble early in their fight on June 1st, and it’s no small feat.
“Hold my hand.” I will make my business against Carlos Adames, and we will make it happen and unite. Simple as that,” Hamzah Sheeraz told reporters, telling IBF and WBO middleweight champion Janibek Alimkhanuly that he will fight him when he takes the WBC 160-lb belt from champion Carlos Adames on February 22nd. “It’s his manager (Egis Klimas) as well.”
