“My outdoor space in New York is getting a little update because we had a rat problem in New York,” said the model, 29, in an interview with Architectural brief Posted on Monday, December 16th. “And some of the original space designs didn’t help that problem.”
Hadid added that she is “looking forward” to the space being repaired so she no longer has to deal with the creatures. While the varmints outside are a nuisance, they seem to be the only pest Hadid is dealing with right now.
In her interview, Hadid shared that she divides her time between New York and Pennsylvania. While Hadid spends time in both places, she makes sure that both spaces reflect who she is as a person.

“The way I designed and decorated my houses or apartments in the beginning and the evolution of my fashion style are similar,” she reflected. “When I first moved to New York, my style was very trendy all the time and the way I designed my apartments was safe and pretty simple. I had this desire to express myself through tchotchkes and things, but I didn’t have the experience or the wherewithal to be more creative.”
Once Hadid was able to purchase her space, she decided to take risks with her design choices.
“Once I got to the point where I could buy my first apartment and have more of a creative hand on it,” she recalled. “It was also the time in my (fashionable) style when I was just, ‘F it; I get to wake up every day and express myself and it’s not for other people’s opinions’. And I think I got there by expressing myself in my living spaces.”
Hadid shared that there are two rooms in the mansion that are her favorite places. One of them includes a special connection to her daughter, Hai, 4 years old, whom she shares with ex Zayn Malik.

“I like that my kitchens are my living rooms, so either this space,” said Hadid. “Hai and I have an art room that is really special to us.”
The art room is Designed for a couple To complete their creative time, which includes painting, drawing and more.
“There is one wall there that is the wall she is allowed to draw on at home,” she explained. “And we do all kinds of projects there like clay and shrinky-dink and of course a lot of drawing and painting. It’s good for both of us. We love it.”
