Friedkin’s team ‘has nothing but support for me’, says Dyche

Everton manager Sean Dyche says Toffees chairman Marc Watts is “supportive” following a “normal” meeting at the team’s training ground on Friday.

Watts, who has been appointed following the completion of the Friedkin Group’s purchase of the team from Farhad Moshiri on Thursday, met with Dyche and women’s team manager Brian Sorensen, as well as holding a meeting with other staff.

“Apart from winning games – which all managers have to do – they have shown that they have nothing but to help me,” said Dyche.

“It was about the brand moving forward. They fully support me, the staff and the team moving forward… nothing but support and no second thoughts about anything else.

“I didn’t say much about what I want. They ask me questions about what I’ve learned in my time and how the team feels. “

Friedkin team: Everton takeover ‘arranged’

Former Watford and Burnley boss Dyche has had a troubled time at Everton since being appointed in January 2023, starting with guiding the club to avoid relegation on the 2022/23 deadline day.

Dyche: Everton have ‘significant’ amount of money

“A lot of people on the ground, they help … they’re not involved in these things,” Dyche added.

“It was unusual, picking each other up and making sure the team has money is very important for the future.”

Chelsea visit Goodison Park on Sunday (2pm BST), while Everton will try to make it one win in seven games by winning back-to-back home games.
