Florida man physically abused boy scolded for nearly 30 minutes for missing couch cushion: Deputies

A man from florida was arrested on child abuse charges on allegations that he allegedly yelled obscenities and physically abused a child for about half an hour over a missing couch pillow, officials said.

Lance Rachel Sr., 42, was charged with aggravated child abuse and assault by strangulation. He was booked into the Osceola County Jail.

The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office said the incident happened Dec. 7 at a home in Kissimmee, Fla., but wasn’t reported until days later.

The sheriff’s office opened an investigation into the incident on December 11.

Rachel Mr. she was angry that a couch cushion had been moved and accused the boy of lying, according to the sheriff’s office.

The suspect “maliciously” punished the boy by yelling obscenities and physically abusing him for 28 minutes, the sheriff’s office said.

Deputies said the victim was hit with a belt more than 50 times and was choked and called several derogatory names and other obscenities.

At one point, the suspect threatened to break the boy’s jaw, according to deputies.

Some of the events were captured on home surveillance cameras, deputies said.

On Dec. 16, deputies interviewed 35-year-old Kimberly Rachel, who confirmed the incident happened. she was arrested and accused without reporting known child abuse.
