‘Enthusiastic’ Man United player praises new boss Amorim’s ‘good attitude’

Marcus Rashford has praised Ruben Amorim for his “happy” Manchester United players after scoring twice in the first Premier League match of his tenure.

Striker Rashford scored his first league goal at Old Trafford since March to help the 20-time champions extend their unbeaten run to seven matches since Erik ten Hag’s dismissal in a 4-0 thrashing of Everton.

“He’s come at a very busy time but we hope we can continue to develop the connection and stay fit,” Rashford told Sky Sports.

“He has come with a good attitude and that has been passed on to the players. We are happy. Playing at this big stadium is always amazing.

“We want to find consistency in the way we play and our results. That’s the main goal. It’s the first time but I feel strong and I’m preparing for the next game.”

Man United results

United won three of their first 12 matches of the season in the Premier League and Champions League, heralding the end of Ten Hag’s reign after more than two years.

Their run of form began with three wins and a draw under Ruud van Nistelrooy before Amorim drew his first game for the club last Sunday, Rashford scoring in the second minute of a 1-1 draw at Ipswich Town.

The former England international came off the bench and missed a chance in their 3-2 home win against Bodo/Glimt in the Europa League on Thursday, but he started against the Toffees, heading in Bruno Fernandes’ first-half corner before heading in from Amad Diallo. pass within 30 seconds of restart.

Joshua Zirkzee joined Rashford to score twice, ensuring United have scored as many goals in four days as they have in their last six games under the Ten Hag.

Arsenal vs Man United: Rashford is optimistic

United now face their toughest test under the Portuguese at Arsenal on Wednesday (8.15pm GMT), where victory could send them sixth.

The second-placed side are six points clear of United and have won three games in a row in all competitions, including a 5-1 defeat of Amorim’s former club Sporting in the Champions League.

“We have to build on that and we hope to win this week,” Rashford said, calling their latest win a “good result”. “This is the goal of all of us. Even if you are in good shape, you have to push and improve. “
