Former CNN anchor Alisyn Camerota speaking following her sudden departure from the network.
“Before we go, on this busy news day, I just wanted to take a moment to share some personal news. Camerota also praised her fellow journalists at CNN, calling them “the best in the whole news business.”
“It’s an honor to be their colleague,” she continued. “It’s also an honor to be in your homes for the past decade through some of the biggest stories of our lives.”
She concluded her message by telling viewers to follow her on Instagram for career updates.
“To my dear friends at CNN, thank you for all the laughs we’ve shared, all you’ve taught me about the power of journalism, and for making my time here so rewarding,” Camerota concluded. “I wish you all a peaceful holiday season and see you soon.”
Additional details about the reason for Camerota’s departure were not provided. She announced her departure from CNN in an Instagram caption before going live on Sunday.

In a second Instagram post, Camerota shared a video of her pulling out her earpiece.
“It’s a wrap!” She wrote the music video. “It was a real honor.”
Camerota called it her “last time on CNN” and noted that she might return if there was “important news.”
“I’m heading for new horizons. I’m just going to share this piece of wisdom. New horizons are great when you’re ready for them,” she said. “There were times in my life when I wasn’t ready to leave a place I loved and it was really sad and really hard. But I think I’m ready to leave this place I loved.”
CEO of CNN Mark Thompson also addressed Camerota’s departure in a statement on Sunday.
