The “Level Up” singer, 39, launched “Dance symbol” – in collaboration with giant – An online dance fundraising competition where people can vote to give an unknown dancer their big break. The winner will get to appear in Ciara’s new music video and take home $20,000.
“I identify with the power of dance and how it inspires others. I thought ‘Dance Icon’ would be such a fun way to engage with the world of dancers out there,” Ciara shared in an exclusive statement to Us Weekly on Monday, December 9. “I know firsthand that truly amazing things happen when the dance community comes together, and I look forward to realizing the impact we are capable of when we come together.”
Ciara’s resume proves that she is the perfect choice to lead the competition. She released her hit single “Goodies” and its album in 2004, which became her first single and reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 for seven consecutive weeks. In 2006, she won a Grammy for Best Short Video for Missy Elliott“Losing control”, in which she appeared. However, in addition to her vocal achievements, the “1,2 Step” singer is also known for her killer dance moves: she won three Soul Train Awards in the Best Dance Performance category in 2010, 2013 and 2018.

Whether fast or slow – every time I start dancing, I feel that something special is happening and that something allows me to be completely free in the music.”
The dance symbol will benefit the Why not you Karen?Ciara and her husband, Russell Wilson‘A non-profit organization that supports student access to equal educational opportunities, child health and food security initiatives.
Voting begins on Monday, February 3, and ends on Friday, April 18, 2025. All voters get one free vote every 24 hours; Additional votes can be purchased and the proceeds will be transferred to the why not fund. The dancers with the most votes are whittled down each week and the final eight dancers will head to Scottsdale, Arizona for a live dance competition, performing in person for Ciara and Jamaica CraftHer old choreographer.
Russell Wilson and Ciara have been going strong since they first started dating in 2015. Ahead of their July 2016 wedding, the couple spoke candidly about their decision to remain celibate until marriage. “We hang out there. I won’t lie. Registration for Dance Icon is now open to dancers nationwide ages 13+.
