Chicago resident Zoe Leigh calls out the city’s treatment of illegal immigrants on ‘The Evening Edit.’
As President-elect Donald Trump’s incoming administration prepares to disrupt illegal immigration, Chicago residents are struggling with the Windy City’s immigration crisis.
One resident blasted Mayor Brandon Johnson for a “Ponzi scheme” moving into the city.
“(Johnson) should be tried for treason. We’re dealing with a mayor who’s a Democrat, and he’s bringing policies to Chicago that won’t work. Since last year,” Chicago resident Zoe Leigh said. “The Evening Edit” Friday.
“We are $1.2 billion in deficit due to immigration fraud. I call it a Ponzi scheme.”

Along with other blue sanctuary cities like New York City and Denver, Chicago has had many immigrants in recent years.
Fox News data shows that the Windy City has spent $574.5 million on immigrants, joining other Blue safe havens like New York City, Boston and Denver, which have lost more money.

Mayor Johnson, who has vowed to oppose President-elect Trump’s immigration crackdown, is also trying to tackle a bigger issue. A $1 billion budget deficit at the end of the year.
“It’s gotten out of hand,” Leigh said. “Chicago pushed back very quickly, especially on the South and West sides of Chicago because of all the money that was stolen from the immigration scam. We allowed that.”

Trump the incoming border czar, Tom Homan, he has been fighting hard against immigration policies. A former ICE agent sent a warning to Chicago, a city Homan says will be one of the first to see deportations.
“Chicago is in trouble because your mayor sucks and your governor sucks. And we’re going to start right here in Chicago, Illinois,” Homan said at an event Thursday.
“Now, if your mayor of Chicago doesn’t want to help you, he can quit. But if he obstructs us, if he intentionally harbors or harbors an illegal alien, I will prosecute him,” he threatened.
