Maresca’s limited options saw him turn to 18-year-old Josh Acheampong, who he looked in the direction of the Palace could not play Chalobah at the weekend.
It has already been said that ChelseaThe loan agreement with Palace does not include a break clause, but The Athletic now give it another go and say that the Blues are considering bringing in Chalobah this month.
Chelsea already did they brought in summer signing Aaron Anselmino to repay his loan and Boca Juniors to strengthen the backline and could do the same with Chalobah, who has impressed with Oliver Glasner in south London this season.
The key to the Blues’ thinking may be Chalobah’s versatility. Although a natural full-back, the 25-year-old has plenty of experience at right-back and centre-back, meaning he can play multiple roles in Maresca’s fluid setup.

Chelsea signed Tosin Adarabioyo on a free transfer in the summer and the former Fulham man, along with Axel Disasi, pushed Chalobah down before Palace gave him the chance to resume his career.
