Brandy Glanville shared that parasites were the cause of her recent health problem.
“Honestly, I’ve had so many doctors and had so many tests…I did lab work for $10,000,” Real Housewives of Beverly Hills Alum, 52, said in an interview with Entertainment tonight Posted on Tuesday, December 10th. “I’ve run every test under the sun … they’re like, ‘It could be a parasite.’ It’s, you know, new.”
Glanville explained that before a doctor thought she might be infected with the parasite, she experienced “swelling” and was “unable to speak.” When she sought treatment, some medical professionals thought the problem might be from old facial fillers that had dissolved. However, Glanville stated that she hadn’t done fillers in a while and the first one had already dissolved.
“I’ve been on medication this whole year. I don’t socialize,” she told the outlet. “I’m not dating and I’m just spending all my money trying to figure out what’s wrong with me.”
Glanville admitted that she had already spent about “$70,000” trying to fix the problem. She added that the financial situation was “stressful” as she had been unable to work for the past two years due to her ongoing health problems.
While Glanville doesn’t know exactly how she contracted the parasite, she believes it could have happened while she was in Morocco filming The ultimate Real Housewives girls trip. (Glanville was accused of sexual harassment Caroline Manzo While they were filming the series in 2023. She denied the allegations, but the season hasn’t aired yet.)
“We had food outside for hours and hours and some of it was meat. In Morocco,” she claimed to the outlet and explained to her The symptoms started to emerge As soon as she got home. “Six months after I came back from Morocco, this thing started talking to me and the matter of swelling, it started in July and we are still here and trying to figure it out.”
According to Glanville, she has a decent idea where the parasite lives under her face. Although she did not see the organism with her own eyes, she saw and felt it move. If Glanville “messed with it” it would jump to another area and look like “tiny bubbles exploding” on her skin.
In addition to affecting her face, Glanville shared that the parasite also produces a lot of fluid that her lymph nodes can’t drain properly.
When it comes to getting treatment, Glanville is open to having surgery to remove it, but her doctors opt for non-invasive methods first. Glanville admitted that she was able to find temporary relief with antibiotics that lasted about “five days.”
“I wanted to get off (the drug) because it was about $2,000 a week,” she reflected. “I did it for six weeks and it came back.”
Earlier this month, Glanville took to social media to give an update about her health struggle. She tweeted a selfie of her swollen face and revealed that doctors believe it could be caused by a parasite.
“What happened? I wish I knew I was in and out of the hospital this year spending 1/2 almost every dollar I have trying to figure it out,” she wrote via X on Saturday, December 7. “How many Drs. Let’s say I have a parasite jumping around my face. Some say it’s edema caused by stress. I personally say it’s Bravo.”
