Kuldeep Yadav has started bowling in the nets after his surgery. The left-arm spinner took a slow start but found a rhythm as he bowled harder. He posted a story on his Instagram handle in which he was seen throwing the ball into the net. It seems that he is currently in Kanpur with his childhood teacher Kapil Panday.
Kuldeep suffered a chest injury during India’s home Test list against New Zealand and was dropped in the last two Tests of the series. He underwent surgery in Germany and is believed to have gone well.
After his surgery, he was rehabilitated at BCCI’s Center of Excellence in Bengaluru where he focused on strength training. The NCA officials did their best to prepare him for the upcoming Champions Trophy.
Although he is yet to receive the green light from the National Cricket Academy, Kuldeep has started playing the ball in the nets to get into the swing of bowling. He will look to regain his strength in the coming days and start playing the ball with a slant.
A few days ago, Kuldeep Yadav’s childhood coach Kapil Panday revealed the nature of his injury and said that he might start playing football soon. Panday said that Kuldeep will visit his home in Kanpur and start playing football. They have all made other plans accordingly.
“This month he should start playing football. I am confident. They will be here (in Kanpur) by next week, and then we will do something. “It would be a bit early to predict Kuldeep’s comeback, as he will resume playing the ball first and then he will play a practice match or two and take some Tests,” Kapil Panday said.
Kuldeep Yadav played India’s last ODI in Sri Lanka where he took 4 wickets in 3 matches at an average of 25.50 and an economy rate of 3.40. The left-arm bowler is India’s number one pick in ODI cricket which makes him a key player in the Champions Trophy.
Kuldeep also played in the ODI World Cup 2023 and was India’s first run-scorer in the tournament. He took 15 wickets in 11 matches at an average of 28.26 and played a major role in India’s run to the final.
The 30-year-old has played 106 ODIs so far and has taken 172 wickets at an average of 26. With the Champions Trophy 2025 two months away, Kuldeep will be looking to bounce back in the previous ODI series against England.
