Speaking in the BCCI tribute video, Ashwin recalled a moment that touched his heart. “Look, I don’t know where to start, to be honest, I think.” I made a promise in 2012. Ashwin Vows To Never Let India Lose Home Tests Again

India, under his leadership, won 18 consecutive international championships in the next 11 years. In this tournament, Ashwin played a pivotal role, taking 320 wickets in 53 home matches with no consistency.

Ashwin ended his career as India’s second-highest wicket-taker with 537 wickets in 106 matches. He has scored over 1,500 runs, including three centuries with his impressive batting.

Reflecting on his journey, Ashwin was very grateful. But if someone had told me in 2011 that I would get a lot of wickets, I would have retired in 2024 on December 18. I wouldn’t have believed them because I knew this is my favorite game, but I didn’t expect to get so much love and so many wickets and so many runs. I am very happy, very grateful to everyone who supported me, everyone who challenged me. Very happy today. Thank you,” he added.

Notably, Ashwin won 11 Player of the Series awards, tying Muttiah Muralitharan’s record in the history of Test cricket. His match-winning performances cemented his status as one of India’s all-time greats.
