Liverpool’s 100% record in the Champions League continued on Tuesday as two stars stood out to help the Reds beat Girona 1-0 in Spain.
The opening term of the 2024/25 campaign has got off to an impressive start for Arne Slot’s men as they top both the Premier League and Champions League tables. The key to this was the Merseyside club’s ability to win games without playing well and this was also evident against Girona.
The La Liga side caused Liverpool a number of problems in the first half and it took a controversial penalty to help the Reds over the line. TNT sports analyst Steve McManaman believed Luis Diaz’s bad side was softdescribing Girona as “very unfortunate”.

Writing in the players’ section, Doyle gave Alisson eight out of 10 and was impressed with the Brazilian’s first-half saves. The 32-year-old’s performance against Girona was particularly impressive as it was his first game back from injury.
The Alisson’s return to Slot from 11 he also saw something happening in Spain that had not been seen for 656 days.
The Liverpool reporter was also impressed with Andy Robertson at left-back for the Reds with Doyle describing the Scotland star’s “impressive performance”.
The defender has struggled at Anfield for most of the 2024/25 campaign, however, the 30-year-old has looked at his form in recent weeks, which has been needed due to an injury to Kostas Tsimikas.
