Alan Shearer was surprised by the poor performance of Man United star Marcus Rashford

Manchester United have been under heavy scrutiny for their lackluster performance this season.

It would not be wrong to say that this is the story of any other season with Man United as they have struggled to improve after the retirement of legendary coach Sir Alex Ferguson.

The performances of their players have been very poor and they have often been criticized because the managers of the team have lost their jobs.

One of the players that has been under the most scrutiny is striker Marcus Rashford.

The England international, who scored the first goal of Ruben Amorim’s time at the club, is in the spotlight after the reports emerged. Man United are considering selling him next year.

The Man United youngster is in his ninth season at the club but still feels like he is a long way from reaching his full potential.

Football legend Alan Shearer is amazed at how Rashford, who was in the form of his life two seasons ago, has failed to repeat the form since then.

When talking to MirrorShearer has interviewed the players and managers he has worked with at the club.

“I don’t know him. I saw him three years ago scoring 30 goals in one season, so it’s in there, but we haven’t seen it in a long time.” Shearer said.

“I don’t know if there is anything going on in his life or anything like that.

“There are only two guys who can answer, his manager and him and his thoughts and his behavior and his belief. His performances have not been there for a while, he has gone from there to the bottom for a while, so something is not right.

“I don’t know why he left three years ago to where he is now, but I don’t see a happy player. It would be wrong of me to think, I don’t know what is happening around him.

Marcus Rashford sold by Man United?

The 27-year-old only scored seven goals in the Premier League last season and this season he has scored four goals in the league.

A player of his quality and ability deserves the best but no manager at Man United has been getting the best out of him.

The player could be released by the club as they look for new options in the market to give Amorim the right platform to succeed at the club.

Since the arrival of the Portuguese manager, Rashford has been in and out of the team and the manager’s selections have shown that the player does not like him very much.
