“I was trying to run in the pocket, obviously on fourth down, trying to make the play happen,” Mahomes said. “When I threw the ball, I got a bit hit – and I didn’t see it – but it felt like someone hit me from behind as well. So I just rolled over. It happens a bit in football, so I tried to recover back, but obviously it hurt a bit.”

Mahomes admitted he “probably would have fought a little harder” to get back into the game if the Browns had cut the game to one score, but the 31-year-old Wentz and the Chiefs defense were able to secure the victory for Kansas City.

“I have a lot of faith in Carson, too,” Mahomes said. “We put him out there and I thought he did a great job of moving the football, running time off the clock and putting us in position to win the football game.”
