Sen. Ernst is introducing several bills to move federal workers out of DC

EXACTLY – His. John Ernst has enacted a law to move government employees from Washington, DC, to other locations across the US as part of an effort to fix alleged government abuses.

Iowa Republicans will bring in the first of those funds, obtained by FOX BusinessThursday.

The legislation, known as the “Returning SBA to 5 Main Street Act,” would move about a third or more of the staff at the Small Business Administration’s (SBA) Washington, DC, headquarters (HQ), to work locations outside the metro area. DC. region.

This funding reduces SBA’s HQ office space with “100 percent telework” capabilities, by moving at least 30 percent of HQ staff to different locations in the Americas and reducing the HQ office by the same amount. It comes after the SBA reported that even if 100% of SBA employees come personally to the Washington, DC, HQ, only 67 percent of the SBA’s HQ can be used.

Ernst’s new order also follows the Senate Small Business and Entrepreneurs Committee’s hearing in September about the SBA’s telephone system, where a witness from Iowa detailed how she had difficulty contacting anyone at the agency.

“Ask anyone small business owners — if your customers can’t reach you, your doors won’t stay open long,” Ernst told FOX Business. “The SBA is supposed to serve Main Street, but there may be a ‘business closure’ of registrations at the agency because it is impossible to reach everyone who has been laid off by the government.
