Meghan Markle became a “huge” polo fan, thanks to her relationship with Prince Harry.
the couple Produced the Netflix series polowhich premiered on Tuesday, December 10. Although they only had a brief appearance on the show, Harry and Meghan worked tirelessly with the showrunner Milos Black behind the scenes.
“It was wonderful to work with them,” said Blatch. Us Weekly Just about the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. “They were really great partners to work with. It was just easy to have conversations with them all the time about what we were showing and how we were showing it.”
Blatch explained that Harry, 40, and Meghan, 43, came to the show with the intention of “growing the world of polo” by reaching out to new fans.
“Of course Prince Harry has grew up in the world of poloThis is one of his greatest passions. He’s really been a driving force in trying to tell these stories,” Blatch continued. “Megan, to her credit, is a huge fan as well. Harry brought her into this world, and on her own she’s just really so focused and knows what’s going on.”
The show said their shared goal was to change people’s perspective on the sport.
“You think it’s the pretty women, the big hats — that it’s on a Sunday,” Blatch said of the polo. “The rest of the week it’s this super mundane world, in its own way, where people come together to play an amazing sport. Incredibly dangerous, incredibly fast, incredibly exciting, and to do it with their families in tow.”
The series follows the story of polo players Adolfo Cambiasso, Porto Cambiaso, Louis de Blakes, Timmy Dota and Learn from Greenie. Harry’s best friend and the legend of Polo Nacho Figueras Also appears prominently in the series.
“He was such a wonderful collaborator and he deserves a lot of credit for all his help,” Blach said of Figueras, noting that the athlete really “took me under his wing” in the world of polo.
Blach told us Polo has something for everyone – no matter how much you invest in sporting or equestrian things.
“If you don’t care about horses, if you don’t care about sports, if you don’t care about polo, you’ll find something else to care about,” he said. “You’ll care about a family story—whether it’s a husband or A woman dealing with pregnancy And the pressures and joys it brings, whether it’s a father and son dealing with the pressures and joys that such a relationship can bring. There’s a lot that people can hold on to that really has nothing to do with whether you care about horses or sports.”
