Dolly Parton Looking for the right person to play her on Broadway – and Jenna Bush Hagar Throwing her name into the ring.
The TV personality, 43, left Kutb admitted laughing after auditioning for a live show on Monday, December 9, Chap of Today with Hoda and Jenna. “I just feel like it would be a dream, Dolly, if my friend Jenna Bush Hager might try something. So Jenna’s going to try,” Kutb, 60, said.
Before channeling Parton, 78, in a curly platinum blonde wig, Bush Hagar noted that her impromptu audition would be submitted under the show’s official casting call hashtag, #SearchForDolly.
“You look like George Washington“, Kotb joked about Bush Hagar’s wig, to which she replied, “This is the only wig we could get on such short notice.”
Instead of singing, Bush Hagger dramatically recited Parton’s iconic tune “Juline,” saying into the camera, “Juline, juline, juline, juline / I’m begging you, please don’t take my man / Jolin, Jolin, Jolin, Jolin / Please don’t take him just because you can.”
Reciting the first verse of the song, she continued: “Your beauty is beyond comparison / With flaming highlights of auburn hair / With ivory skin and eyes of emerald green / Your smile is like a breath of spring / Your voice is soft like a summer rain / And I can’t compete With you, Jolin.”
Bush Hagar removed her wig and took a bow while Kutb and the show’s off-camera crew gave her performance a standing ovation. “I think if Dolly watches her, which she tends to watch our show, all (Jenna) wants is to be an extra,” Kutb stated.
Bush Hagar stated that she would be happy to have a “small, small part”, perhaps as a member of the ensemble of the musical. Kotb laughed at her co-host, sharing the particular role she has in mind for Hagar.
“Just (put her) in the back, drinking coffee,” she tweeted.
Bush Hagar did her audition amid a conversation about Parton’s new project. Earlier this month, the country music legend opened an open casting call to find young artists to portray her. Dolly: An Original Musicalto follow the story of her life.

The few chosen will have the opportunity to audition in person with our show’s casting director.”
